Parents,

This will go down as the longest email I’ve ever sent, but it contains all important info for Champs entries and volunteer shifts.

For any of our swimmers to be eligible to swim at Champs, they will have need to have participated in two league meets. All swimmers will also need to have a legal time from a league meet to be eligible to swim that individual event at Champs, except for individual freestyle. Time trials times have been pulled from the system, so if there is no time entered for your swimmer in a particular event besides free, they cannot swim that event at Champs. Time trials times only count internally for coaches to determine who will be swimming at A champs, and those times cannot be used as seed times at A Champs.

On our swimtopia site you will see five different sessions. The sessions are as follows: Session 1 is A dive, session 2 is Bud Merritt AM, Session 3 is Bud Merritt PM, session 4 is A Prelims, and session 5 is A Finals. David has already taken care of all dive entries so no one needs to do anything for session 1. 8 and under and 10 and under B swimmers will be swimming in Session 2, while all older age group B swimmers will be in Session 3. If you have an 8 and under or 10 and under swimmer, you will see session 2. If you have a 12 and under or older you will see session 3.

Our A Champs team is very close to being set, but there are a few decisions left to make; I’m hoping to have the A team set by late tonight. I do not want anyone to make any declaration for sessions 4 or 5, this will be taken care of for our A swimmers. If you believe your swimmer will be included in the A Champs team and will NOT be at Champs, please text or call me (913-749-9220) by 9:00 tonight.

To declare for Champs: Please only declare for sessions 2 or 3 by Tuesday July 3^rd at noon. Once you declare for these sessions, parents are in charge of selecting individual events. Please use the notes section when you declare to let us know which events your swimmer prefers most in case they are in relays. I also am asking that you indicate in the notes section if your swimmer would like to be included in either medley or free relays for B champs. If there is not a note expressing interest in a relay, they will not be included in a relay. If you are unsure if your child is swimming A Champs or unsure of the amount of events for A Champs, please still declare for B Champs and use the notes as indicated above. If they will be included in the A team, we will pull them out of the necessary events from sessions 2 and 3 to make them eligible to be entered in sessions 4 and 5. League rules only allow Bud Merritt swimmers to be entered in 4 events. If your swimmer would like to swim 2 relays at B Champs, they will only be allowed to swim two individual events. League rules also only allow 5 events across A dive, B swim, and A swim. For example, if I were swimming two A events I would only be able to swim 3 Bud Merritt events.

Volunteer signups are also open for Champs. Every family is required to volunteer for at least one shift, and every shift needs to be filled. Volunteer signups will be due on July 5^th at 6:00 PM.
